GED-U05 / Visual concept
A rising total and a falling per-resident ratio can coexist.
A fictional town adds evening library hours to improve access for daytime workers. Monthly visits rise from 1,000 to 1,200 while population rises from 10,000 to 12,500.
GED-U05 / Worked case
Visits increase by (1,200 - 1,000)/1,000 = 20%. That supports more recorded visits.
Visits per resident change from 0.100 to 0.096 per month. The crude ratio falls 4%, despite the increase in total visits.
Gather comparable visit-time and relevant-user information, then investigate other changes. The supplied totals do not identify daytime workers or isolate causation.
No. A rule or aim differs from an observed result, and a later change alone does not prove the rule caused it.
The ratio counts visits, which can repeat for one person, not unique users. This is a fictional civic record, not a statement about current law.
A practical study routine
Use the guide actively: make a decision before checking the answer, then bring the lesson into your next attempt.
Step 1
Choose a topic and attempt a small practice set before reading the key.
Step 2
Identify the text, quantity, or observation that supports your answer.
Step 3
Record a specific repair and revisit it before moving to a new subject.

Having a full Extended Response beside the source texts is helpful. The commentary points to the support behind the argument, so there's more to learn from than an outline of what each paragraph should contain. The complete model makes it possible to compare a claim with the evidence that is supposed to support it.
The library example is a nice reminder to look beyond a rising total. Comparing visits with the changing population makes the difference between more visits and more use per resident easy to see.
I like the comparison of the two fee plans. The intersection isn't just a number at the end of some algebra; the explanation shows which plan costs less on either side.
The life-science examples take some thought, but the explanations make the feedback idea practical. Asking what changes when conditions change is a useful way to work through the biological responses.
The chemical-accounting section explains why changing a coefficient is different from changing a formula. Connecting that distinction to the available reactants makes balancing feel more meaningful than moving numbers around.
