Substance X, tracked over one day in a simplified teaching model.
Functional schematic; transport arrows do not locate substance X in a specific segment.
Returns to the blood.
Added from the blood.
100 − 70 + 10 = 40 mg/day
Because that material returns to blood rather than remaining in the outgoing fluid. Secretion adds material from blood into the tubule.

Keep filtration, reabsorption and secretion fixed while urine volume changes.
4 markers in each collection = the same 40 mg of X per day. Markers represent mass, not individual molecules.
40 mg/day ÷ 2.0 L/day
= 20 mg/L
40 mg/day ÷ 1.0 L/day
= 40 mg/L
Concentration doubles. Excreted mass stays fixed.
No. Concentration is mass per volume. Under the stated fixed-rate assumption, reducing volume changes concentration while excretion stays 40 mg/day.
A practical study routine
Use the guide actively: make a decision before checking the answer, then bring the lesson into your next attempt.
Step 1
Sample your reading, math, science, and English knowledge.
Step 2
Use the lessons to explain the mechanism or language rule behind a response.
Step 3
Rework missed questions and keep your school’s requirements separate from practice scores.

The kidney example is one of the clearest parts of the guide. It explains why the same excreted amount can have a different concentration when the volume changes. Keeping the units visible makes the calculation easy to follow. The example has enough detail to show the method, without leaving the reader to guess which amount belongs in the calculation.
The thyroid example gives the feedback loop a clear direction. I like that it explains the higher TSH without turning that response into a claim that the thyroid itself is producing more hormone.
The workshop-request passage breaks the instructions into steps with conditions. Keeping the exception beside the step it changes makes the sequence much easier to follow than a long list of instructions.
The estimate-before-calculating advice is practical. The percentage example keeps the original base visible, and the rounding discussion gives the final number a reason. Those small checks make the worked example more useful.
The measurement example makes precision and bias easy to tell apart. I like the explanation of why several similar readings can still be wrong, and what a reference measurement helps you check.
